We are pleased to invite you to participate in the virtual workshop ‘Harold Laski and His Chinese Disciples: A Seminal Workshop on the Legacy of Laski’s Legal Philosophy‘. The workshop is funded by Dr Ting Xu’s (School of Law, University of Sheffield) British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship. The aim of this workshop is to uncover Laski’s impact on intellectual thinking and institution building, using biographical methods to study the evolution of rights (broadly conceived, including human rights and property rights) in Republican China (1911-1949). On Thursday 2 July from 13:00 – 15.30, participate (via Blackboard Collaborate) in a discussion about the key themes: 1) Laski’s impact on intellectual thinking and institution building, in particular the evolution of rights, in Republican China; 2) Biographical methods and legal research; 3) The legacy of Laski’s legal philosophy; and 4) the legal history of China-Britain relations and its contemporary implications.
If you would like to have a copy of Dr Xu’s draft paper to be discussed in the workshop, please email Dr Xu at: email@example.com.
