If you are hoping to study the Bar Course from September, you must apply for Inn of Court membership. Students are required to join by the date 12 weeks before their Bar Course starts. Lincoln’s Inn recommends therefore that if you intend to start a Bar Course in September, you should apply to join an Inn by early June in order to be able to take up your place on the Bar course.
You can find more details on the Bar Standards Board’s website here (please note that this still refers to the 31 May deadline but all the Inns’ webpages that you can link to from there have been updated). Application is done electronically, though there may be a need to send in paper certified copies for example of exam certificates at some point. Students must also register for and pass the BCAT: more details can be found on the Bar Standards Board website here, which includes a link to the Pearson Vue website, confirming that all tests in the UK are currently suspended, and therefore students should keep an eye on this.
